i just got a letter from my opticians
wefeeltoolittle:
telling me my eye test is overdue, and that it’s really important for me to keep up with them because as well as checking your vision, eye tests can spot the early signs of diabetes and other health issues
erm, BIT LATE YOU GUYS.
I love when I find things warning about me of causes of diabetes :’)
tlex asked: Do any other diabetics have problems with Weight?
I have weight issues, and I know it's from diabetes and my sugar. I eat mostly healthy (I enjoy my french fries now and then), but because my A1C isn't in the 7's, it's harder to lose weight.
Does anyone else have this problem?

it-happened-one-nut-deactivated asked: I also had an awful time at diabetes camp. I made probably 3 friends, none of whom I kept in touch with after about a week. The 'leaders' were condescending and it brought my self esteem down BUT!! I was only 10. I'm almost 18 and at the start of next year I'm going to 'adult diabetes camp' apparently it's a lot more laid back and you go to pubs and plus.. maybe...
little-w-0-n-d-e-r-s-deactivate asked: Yesterday at Walmart, my blood sugar kept dropping, like it went from 111 to 69 within like three minutes. I got really tired, which is a normal thing for me when my blood sugar gets low, but she said that shouldn't happen. She said you feel tired when your blood sugar is high, but I'm NEVER tired when it's high.
Does this happen to you or anyone else?

theunfathomable asked: I shake when it's higher than normal- but it has to be high really fast. I don't know if that made sense. I just mean that my blood sugar has to go from normal (or low) to high really fast for me to get shaky.

You know what? I’m not going to simply wait for a cure. I’m going to create one.
You might not think I can do it. But if by the time I get through uni a cure hasn’t been discovered, I’ll try my damn hardest to create one.

Unpopular Diabetic Opinion:
literarysins:
… I couldn’t stand diabetes camp.
I went for two years, watch them mistreat my friends high, and treat us like we clearly had no idea what we were doing. I realize that the military-style treatment was necessary to keep track of everyone, but there’s no need to be condescending on top of it. One of the more miserable experiences of my life. I made maybe two friends who I haven’t...

I’m shaking, and it’s either from low blood sugar or rage.

I woke up at 6 am with a feeling of dread, which was pretty unusual, also my body felt a lot heavier, was I being possessed by a ghost? No, of course not, ghosts aren’t real. I was having a hypo! The dread part was weird, though I’ve never felt that before. My blood sugar was 1.3, which is the one of the lowest it’s ever been, but on the plus side i had some delicious Honey Nut...

-astronaut -Marine -pilot -police officer -semi-truck driver -EMT -I also really wanted to be an FBI agent, but they won’t take me because I have hearing loss. The diabetes is probably also no bueno, though.

One of my boyfriend’s classmates from this past semester has a diabetic fiance. When my boyfriend told me about this, he said, “Yeah, we bonded over dating diabetics. Like, she’d mention that she’d find test strips all over her car and she wasn’t even sure how she got there and I was like ‘me too! That happens all the time!’”
I was so, so happy to hear that my boyfriend had...

talking about the fact that I used to not take care of myself. I don’t feel like it’s something to be ashamed about, but it makes me so mad at myself to say it. I am upset that at some points in time, I just don’t want to deal with it. I know I have to, but sometimes it just feels like all too much. I’m happy with how far I’ve come, but I will always remember when I just didn’t...

I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the end of January of this year, so it’s only been four months. Since the diagnoses my skin has gotten more and more sensitive. I can hardly give myself a shot anymore, and I almost cried when they took blood for my A1c yesterday. It hurt that bad,…
